Case Scenario
You work for ABC organization that employs 2000 people, with 12 locations throughout Ontario. At least one HR resource is employed at each site. Recently the organization has gone through a major growth with increased profits and the potential of expansion including hiring an additional 250 part time employees.
To date, the company has been using an in-house HRIS, created by the IT department. This system has been in place for the last 8 years and very few employees understand how the systems can be integrated with each other (i.e., payroll and HR). Furthermore, many standard procedures are still being completed manually, which has been extremely time consuming for the HR team. Completion of accurate lists is a priority as well as producing documentation for tracking union grievance information.
You have been approached by the Senior Vice President of HR, who has limited knowledge about HRIS, and have been asked to review a potential implementation of a commercial HRIS based on company requirements and possible expansion of employees and sites. The Senior VP believes this will allow the organization to be more competitive in the industry, along with various other benefits.
