Identify gaps in your understanding and capabilities

Assessment- Report Case Study Analysis

A case study is based on a real event (or construction of event that could take place) in an organisation. Usually, the main character (or characters) is facing a problem, challenge or opportunity. Case studies are useful for applying what you learn to real world situations. The Case Study will be provided in class.

This assessment has three parts:

1. Facilitation | Group | 0% (formative assessment)
2. Peer-Assessment | Individual | assessed within self-reflection report
3. Self-Reflection report|Individual|

1. Facilitation | Group | 20 minutes | Formative Assessment

Students will be allocated into groups and able to select an organisational behaviour ‘theme'.

Using the case study, textbook and additional sources, your group is to deliver a 15 minutefacilitation during the workshop. The ‘theme' will correspond with the weekly topic. Remember that this is a facilitation - not a presentation - innovative facilitation techniques will be discussed in the workshops. Students will be aware of the case study, so you do not need to re-tell the case study as part of the presentation.

The facilitation should outline:

• A theory linked to the topic area, explaining the theory and relevance to the case.
• Outline other situations when this topic might relate to the workplace, drawing on your teams own work experiences

• Suggestions for how work situations might be better managed in light of the theories.

Students need to participate in this formative activity to be able to complete the self-assessment report.

2. Peer-Assessment (incorporated into Self-Reflection)

In this part of the assessment you will comment on, and evaluate, other groups' facilitations. We are doing this to:

• Encourage you to critically analyse the work done by others
• Give your peers a wider range of feedback

3. Self-Reflection | Individual | 2500 words |

In this final part of the assessment, you will evaluate your own performance and contribution to the case study analysis process. This will include:

• an overview of your individual case study learning experience (what was good, what was bad, what could have been done differently)
• a critical review of the organisational behaviour ‘theme' and how it relates to the case study
• a reflection on your team processes (including your individual role and contribution to the team)
• a reflection on other presentations (minimum of three)
• reflect on how you will use the new knowledge and skills to improve work situations

You will need to:

• objectively reflect on and critically evaluating your own progress and development
• identify gaps in your understanding and capabilities
• learn how to improve your performance
• learn independently and thinking critically

As this is your own individual self-assessment, the format is up to you. A template has been provided as a guide of the expected content.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

3. Also Include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
