Assessment Instructions:

The human resources department plays a vital role in mergers and acquisitions by analyzing the cultures of the merging organizations for compatibility, helping to manage fear of change, and managing changing roles and structure. In a time of such change, human issues are often overlooked, especially in regard to cultural and systems methods. This may be a contributing factor to the failure of mergers and acquisitions to produce benefits.

For this assessment, review the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) video, “Once the Deal Is Done: Making Mergers Work,” which you were assigned to view in the Unit Resources. Note: You may also wish to download and read the video’s discussion guide and companion presentation, which are available through the SHRM Foundation Web page linked in the Resources. (This is not required to complete the assignment.)

Based on the SHRM video, write a 3 page paper addressing the following:

Analyze some key practices HR should include to successfully to integrate two merged companies.
