Introduction

To complete this project, you are required to consider a specific group of children and two different creative experiences you could create for them. The purpose of the project is to develop your knowledge and skills to prepare for these creative learning experiences.

You are free to choose the age group of the children as the basis for this project or, if you are on or have been on work placement, you may use the information from children at that service. However, remember to use different names to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of the children is maintained. The learning experiences to choose from are included in the instructions below

Below are a series of questions that require a response in your report. Questions I to III should form the introduction to your report where you discuss your educational facility, the children, and the learning experiences you have chosen. For the remaining questions, use similar wording to each of the questions as sub-headings in your report.

You may need to conduct additional research to source information. If you do use other sources of research, ensure you clearly indicate the source of the information.

Your report should be approximately 800 to 1000 words in length and have a conclusion that discusses question IX and X.

Task

I. Discuss the type of service you will be setting your project in, including which learning framework is applicable

II. Discuss which age group you are creating the learning experience for. Why did you choose this age group? Discuss the cognitive development stage they may be in, and how this is taken into consideration when planning the creative learning experience.

III. What creative experiences would be beneficial for you to make available for them and why? Iinclude one experience from each of the following: (i) music and movement, (ii) construction, (iii) visual arts and (iv) dramatic play.

IV. Discuss two of the experiences in more detail and explain the resources and infrastructure you would need to implement them.

V. How will you support the children to participate?

VI. How will you support the children to implement ideas through creative expression, active learning, and critical reflection?

VII. How will you ensure the services' standards and policies are followed throughout the implementation of the creative learning experience?

VIII. What are the links between the children's learning, the National Quality Standards (NQS), and the relevant learning framework?

IX. What methods would you use to evaluate the children's learning?

X. How would you reflect on these evaluations and follow up with ongoing improvements in a way that is suitable in your service?
