1. What ethical guidelines would you use in deciding how to respond to this client?
2. How would you respond to Aaron? Why?
3. Aaron's current issues are related, in part, to his having been sexually assaulted in the past. For some counselors, hearing about such an experience might be especially distressing for personal reasons. Similarly, dealing with a self-harming or potentially suicidal client may be especially difficult for some counselors. Are there any situations a client might bring up that would be particularly difficult for you? How would you deal with them?
4. If it is effectively impossible for you to deal with a client because of your own personal past, what are your obligations?
