Thinking globally . In the formerly Communist nations of Eastern and Central Europe, sorting out public and private capital went in the opposite direction from Western economies. There the challenge was what publicly owned capital belonged in the private sector, how to transfer assets into private hands, and what regulatory role the government would continue to play. How would you decide which assets or businesses to sell and which to keep in public hands? What concerns might you have about foreign rather than domestic buyers?
