Imagine you are asked to prepare a class for a group of 10 students or patients based on the topic "Educational aspects of degree advancement". You are given 1 hour for the lesson, a computer, poster board, a large screen to present from your computer and any other props or aids you might need that would be realistically available to you in the setting you have chosen (classroom or healthcare facility). Think about what you want these students to learn. You only have an hour, so it is important to try not to get too in-depth or try to cover too much. It is fine if you cannot cover all aspects of the topic, pretend that this is session 1 in a multi-session course. How will you go about deciding what to teach in this session of the lesson? Ask yourself - "What should the students be able to do by the end of this first session?" Lastly, also consider how your objectives will be met and assessed as well as how they will align with the overarching Institutional Outcomes?
