How to improve the mentor-ship and team advancement

Assignment:

Ticket out the door:

At the end of a class period ask students to take out a piece of scrap paper, or hand out blank index cards (keep a stack readily available) and ask students a question related to that day's lesson. Students write their responses on the paper or index card which they then hand to the teacher at the door as they leave the classroom. This gives the students of all learning levels to reflect on the material of the day. Although the assignment is to answer the question of the day, it allows each student the opportunity to express what they don't understand or to write a question instead of answering the question. All without the problem of embarrassment and shame.

Reading Buddies:

1. Pair each student with another of a different reading level (low with medium, medium with high) for partner reading and discussion. I have always be a believer that children are children's best teachers. This activity helps to improve the understanding and confidence of both buddies. It helps students to understand support groups, mentor-ship and team advancement.

2. For my first strategy we will use index cards that will be made available on the corner of my desk in a basket. The second will be an iPad for e-reading and sticky notes of neon color.

Activity: We are reading the novel of Little Chicken, students will be assigned a partner and will pair up for 20 each day of homeroom and alternate in reading of the book. each student will do a end of class buddy- assessment this will also help to prevent bullying.
