Assignment Task:
What will be a good reply for this post from my instructor?
As crisis services receive increased attention and expand, considerations for diversity among populations served and among the workforce needs to be at the forefront of the minds of program leaders and policy makers. Racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities experience barriers to mental health and substance use care in crisis settings just as they do in their daily lives. Structural racism, discrimination, stigma, and racialized legal statuses including criminal justice involvement and immigration also require special consideration. (Pinals, Edwards, 2020)
Marginalized communities are those excluded from mainstream social, economic, educational, and/or cultural life. Examples of marginalized populations include, but are not limited to, groups excluded due to race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, language, and/or immigration status. (Sevelius JM, Gutierrez-Mock L, Zamudio-Haas S, McCree B, Ngo A, Jackson A, Clynes C, Venegas L, Salinas A, Herrera C, Stein E, Operario D, Gamarel K., 2020)
The newer approaches speak of culturally tailored interventions which are culturally respectful and patient-centered care and interventions were designed and delivered relevant to ethnic minorities' cultural mores and incorporate cultural factors such as language, cultural framework, including culturally appropriate educational materials.
To make these new culturally tailored interventions effective and to ensure patient-centered practice, law enforcement, nurses and other healthcare practitioners should have chances to regularly train in culturally sensitive care for ethnic minorities.
However, in the face of the culture wars, DEl and cultural awareness have lost favor. What potential effects may this have on first responders? Need Assignment Help?
