• Explain how the factors of social class and family background of lower stratum families tend to affect the educational achievement of children from those families.
• Considerable evidence is presented to support the position that social class and family background greatly affect a child's ability to do well in school. If this is so, should children be grouped according to those factors? Should special programs be instituted to compensate for those factors? Or should all children be treated equally at all times?
