How might the idea of conversion of heart help transform us

Problem

A. In our readings, we saw the significance of charity and the love of others. We also learned the difference between charity and justice. Define and give an example of both charity and justice. When it comes to an issue like discrimination or racism- how might charity and justice be applied differently and address different elements of the same social/moral problem?

B. Our readings connected the Christian understanding of God as Trinity with the ideas of loving one's neighbor, forgiving those who cause harm and working for the common good of all those around us. How do the readings connect the Trinity to our social and moral lives? How do the readings articulate the connection between being a person of faith, love of God, and the love of others being a responsibility? How do terms like justice, charity, common good, and human dignity come into a discussion about how we are responsible for others in our readings?

C. In our reading from "Open Wide our Hearts," we reflected on racism in light of the Christian faith. How can racism and discrimination be evaluated from the perspective of our module (or semester-wide) readings? How might the idea that society and people as individuals need conversion of the heart help us rethink race relations and a long history of discrimination in the human family? How might the idea of conversion of heart help transform us and our culture? What elements of culture do the readings (or your research) suggest need conversion?
