• Cognitive imagery includes all sensory modalities including sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. While it might be easy to manipulate a visual image (e.g., imagine the GCU Lope as blue instead of white), it is hard to manipulate images in other modalities (e.g., trying to imagine the smell of tulips but sweeter). Develop a theory as to why this is the case.

• According to the self-reference effect, individuals are likely to store and retrieve information more effectively if that information is somehow related to themselves. How is this effect explained by our biological and cognitive maps of information? How can you use this to help you study future material?
