How Environmental changes affected humans
Biological:
Adaptations resulting in the ability to become bipedal and gaining the ability to sweat are some physiological changes that humanoid species on very ancient Earth experienced. As for the reason for this adaptation, at least when it comes to walking on two legs, perhaps it is because these humanoid species were smaller than the current intelligent humanoids (modern humans or homo sapien sapiens). However, there is no concrete evidence that this is the case. The capability to walk on two legs rather than four resulted in many advantages, though this is not always true. Being bipedal provided the ability to carry (weapons, tools, children, etc.), surveillance, and searching far for food are some benefits.
The ability to sweat meant more endurance, which meant during hunts (specifically for meat) a humanoid could run longer and further. This made it possible to outrun and/or exhaust their pray/predator. However, these are only two adaptations that resulted in the current humanoid species.
Another adaptation is the growth of the brain, which had the added benefit of having more brain power, though in hominids, this was not uniform. In Homo "the frontal lobe expanded and elaborated at increased skills, imitation and complex sequences of behavior, also experienced dramaic growth".
A larger brain also meant "higher metabolic rates, requiring more and higher quality food". H. erectus responded to "these new pressures by ratcheting up its reliance on tools and other cultural behavior to increase the quality of its diet" (Welsch, 2023
What these adaptations tell us bout the impact the climate or any other environmental change will have on the humans of today is that the hominids of the past, people, will adapt. (Though whether that adaptation is good or bad is unknown.) Need Assignment Help?
