How does the knowledge you gained in this high school law

Problem

I. What are three major legal concepts (or significant lessons) that you took away from our work? (or stick out in your mind). Write three distinct paragraphs, being descriptive about the curriculum taught, case studies discussed, etc. In your written response, provide several precise examples. (3 minimum paragraphs)?

Lesson that was though in class was:

i. Mens rea: Latin for "guilty mind," refers to the mental state of the accused at the time the crime was committed. In order to be convicted of a crime, it must be shown that the accused had the required level of intent or knowledge when committing the actus reus. For example, if a person intentionally sets a fire, they can be charged with arson. However, if they accidentally started the fire while cooking, they would not be guilty of the crime because they did not have the required mens rea.

ii. Rule of law: A legal principle that holds that all individuals and institutions are subject to the law, regardless of their position or power. It also refers to the idea that laws should be clear, fair, and consistently enforced. This principle is essential to the functioning of a democratic society, as it ensures that no one is above the law and that everyone is treated equally under the law.

iii. Write of habeas corpus: A court order requiring that an individual who is being detained be brought before a judge to determine whether the detention is lawful. This writ is used to protect against unlawful detention and to ensure that individuals are not held in custody without due process.

iv. Case law/common law: The body of law that is derived from judicial decisions, rather than from written statutes or constitutions. Common law is developed through the decisions of courts and judges, and it is based on the principle that similar cases should be decided in a similar manner.

II. Which legal theories and techniques do you now feel most comfortable applying? Explain.

III. How does the knowledge you gained in this high school law course relate to other academic topic areas and/or to real-world situations (the other subject being English)? Use specifics to explain.

IV. Would you advise upcoming grade 12 students to take law (our legal class)? If not, why not?

V. What did you think you accomplished in your 12th-grade legal class? And where do you believe you can make improvements?

VI. What could law teachers do to better support the students in their class?
