Problem 1: Loeb talks about "widening the circle" when groups have conflicting ideas about appropriate and inappropriate actions.  In light of this unit on the care of the earth for the common good propose ways energy providers: wind, solar, coal, oil, nuclear can work together to both improve the quality of life for the common good.

Problem 2: How does Loeb's "ethic of connection' fit well in a course of study regarding the common good for all. Just what does he mean by that concept?

Problem 3: Wallis asserts that we've been witnessing a massive despoiling of God's creation. He says, "We were meant to be stewards of places like the Gulf of Mexico, where many faith leaders, including me, traveled to see the consequences of the BP oil spill" and proceeds to raise significant public policy issues and articulating PRINICIPLES of stewardship. He proceeds to discuss the world-wide dangers of "growing conflicts over food, water, land, and energy resources." What are your responses to the issues of environmental stewardship Wallis articulates?

Problem 3: What is the difference between deep and shallow ecology and how are these terms applicable to/for the common good? Consider both Loeb and Wallis.  Be specific with citations from each!
