You should write two essays responding to each of the prompts below. Be sure to address each aspect of the questions in your answer. Your essays should be 2 to 3 pages each. You should not cite any outside sources, but you must provide citations to any all quotes and textbook material that you paraphrase. It is important that you provide specific examples from course materials.
• Some historians have suggested that recent history since 1970 is characterized by a rejection of 1960s liberalism. Do you agree or disagree? In your essay you should consider the increasing radicalism of the Civil Rights Movement and the development of other activist groups (such as the Chicano, Native America, Women's, and LGBTQ movements) in the late 1960s and how they contributed to resentment of the "Silent Majority" and the rise of conservatism in the 1970s and 1980s. Be sure to cite specific examples of the who or what were conservatives pushing back against and the kinds of policies they pursued as a result of their rejection of "liberalism" and what they saw as radical activism.
• Reflect on history in your lifetime. How would you describe the changes in American life during the last 15 years (2005-present)? What are some of the most important people, events, and developments? How does it to compare to the periods of history you have learned about in this course? What do you think historians in the future will say about this era?
The response must include a reference list. One-inch margins, double-space, Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font and APA style of writing and citations.
