Remember this is the same case study you worked on in mod 3. Unfortunately, she will not let me do it again but she gave me a failing grade. These are her comments.
1) The scenario belongs at the top. Your story for question 2 needs to be YOUR story about the child's life in the US. You did not do this.
2) For inward characteristics-you only give an example for the first. Remember this is about your family, not a description about what inward characteristics could be.
Everything else here is accurate. This is a final submission and grade for this assignment. Unfortunately, you are missing a large part of this assignment without a story for your child. (2/4)
This is a new assignment but we have the same case study all year round
Case Study:
This student is a five-year-old (kindergarten) girl. She was born in Pakistan, and has been in this country a very short while. Her parents speak English, but with heavy accents that make them difficult for you to understand. Her father was a lawyer in Pakistan, and left because of a political threat on his life. He now works as a clerk in a convenience store. Her older brother is in fifth grade, and students in his school often call him a terrorist. Her mother wears a head cover and does not socialize with other parents in the school. She is learning English quickly, but has never been in school, or with large groups of children, before, so she is unsure how to interact with the other students in your classroom.
1. Remember to put your original case study in the beginning of this reflection.
Then answer the following questions:
1. Thinking of your child, how does his/her family and culture approach eating?
2. Thinking of your child, how does his/her family and culture approach sleepinghablits?
3. Thinking of your child, how does his/her family and culture approach attachment and separation?
4. How might all of these issues influence your child's classroom and school behaviors, and what can you do, as the teacher, to assist your child in the classroom with each area?
For all of the questions listed above, give specific examples and details for your answers. In addition, be sure to use the concepts and language used in this module. Be sure that your answers make sense for your child and their family. Each question should be at least one paragraph long.
