How cultures may express reciprocity in different

Problem:

I need to respond to another peer's post, this is their discussion post that I need to respond, consider how their perspective is similar to or different from yours and speculate about why the norm might occur at all. Be sure to prove assertions with research (both from the course materials and from other sources). This is their post---No, I don't believe that reciprocity is strictly a Western ideal, and it is more universal. It shows up in many cultures because people everywhere depend on trust and a mutual obligation to maintain their relationships and keep their communities working. Reciprocity is a human social norm that likely evolved because of the desire to increase their rates of survival by simply cooperating with others. Robert Cialdini's research shows reciprocity is a powerful and predictable pattern in human behavior (Cialdini, 2009). That's why his work can help explain why people feel uncomfortable accepting help without returning it. This supports the idea that reciprocity is rooted in social psychology and cooperation rather than in a single culture. With that being said, other cultures may express reciprocity in different, more "quieter" ways than typical Western cultures do, and that is why many may automatically assume that this is a strictly "American phenomenon".Need Assignment Help?
