Im honest and direct and I try to empathize

I want someone to have the motivation to see change- I can help but I cannot force you to do anything you need to want change for yourself

Its difficult to find that person because most people don't really want to put in the work that is required for change

For the first Part _ I focused on two goals for my mentee - Addressing their weaknesses so they can see what could possible hold them back

There is no timeline with this particular mentee as what I am mentoring her on is struggles she is currently having in her marriage and the long term goal getting to common ground with her husband

Ethical Considerations would be - Her Beliefs of Open Communication in a Marriage, Husbands should not abuse the roles society expects women to play of simply supporting the man and children but tasks in the household should be split between the spouses

Checking to see if they are sticking to their own timeline Partly of communicating with spouse and notating what actions were done to see change that Part

Its important to evaluate the mentee to understand how tolerant she has become with failure, what changes she has attempted on her own for change

She made a lot of progress this Part. She has already made up her mind to divorce her husband but when it comes to the children she did listen to me and attempt to start a discussion with him using the techniques I provided to allow both parties to speak- voice eachothers issues with out the other interrupting so both parties could feel like they were heard as far as discussing the well being of the children during this change

I am very direct and honest- I focus on where I am needed and where my honesty could be used.

Being honest and direct helps me help this individual by getting to the point of where I can influence them

I establish trust by never changing to please everyone else. They trust me because I am consistent. This is an important factor because my mentee can trust that things will be consistent with me so we can focus on the task at hand

I prefer someone who has the motivation for change. I easily get irritated with the "poor me complex"

It isn't difficult at all- I pay attention to the mannerism's, how fast they get things done and how open they are to change.

12. How do you decipher goals that are short-term verses long-term? As you are working with your mentee, how do you guide the mentee through developing short-term and long-term goals that would meet the mentee's vision?

Everything to me revolves around a timeline. When I look at goals - I write timelines to assist me in looking at what is needed to accomplish that goal- this is what determines if it will take me 2 months or 5 years to accomplish this goal as some tasks are easier to accomplish than others

Technique one- I use my personal experiences to show relation to the mentee so they can understand they are not the only ones struggling

Technique two- I show the Pros of accomplishing their goals and the Cons of not doing so. I push more positives as motivation showing the Cons can be overcomed

Activity Three- Having open communication with me so I am aware if they are having problems with certain tasks (need reasons why having good communication and trust between mentor and mentee is good)
