Discussion Post: Applied Human Service
Ending the clinical relationship can bring up feelings for both the client and the human service professional. When possible, endings should be planned and discussed in advance to help the closure process. Human service professionals should be mindful of how they respond to endings by keeping in mind professional boundaries and ethics.
Respond to the following:
a) Discuss the different ways the client-professional relationship can end.
b) Which endings do you think would be easier for both the client and the professional? Which do you think might be harder? Why?
c) How could you, as the professional, ensure a smooth transition or ending for your client? What techniques would you use?
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
