How communicating and asking questions reduces errors

Assignment task:

Connecting a service that relates to unnecessary transportation is one I experience a great deal at work which is grabbing essentials such as condiments or plates at the last minute. In my job industry, I work in a fast-paced environment and due to the limited number of tables it is an obligation for all servers to turn tables in a fast and efficient manner (ensure flow). Ensure flow is the third principle of lean thinking which is a smooth and error-free process to avoid any forms of waste. I am proud to say the team I work with does such a great job in delivering service. We work in synchronization and have a great work system; the goal is to strive for perfection. Of course, there are days when the workflow isn't in synchronize.

A solution I would consider is cross-training staff members. The staff members would be retrained to ask customers essential questions such as if they need any extra sauces if they are sharing an entrée, and if they may need anything else at the end of taking the order. Communicating is essential, particularly in the restaurant industry. If staff members communicate correctly and are assured; an ensure flow service is accomplished and waste is avoided. Communicating and asking questions reduces errors, grants extra time with new guests/tables, and meets customer satisfaction. Please comment on the above thread?
