General solution for harmonic motion

Suppose that a mass m attached to a spring with constant k executes simple harmonic motion. A general solution may be given as x(t) = A cos (ωt + φ). An alternative general solution is x(t) = C cos (ωt)+D sin (ωt).

a) Find the amplitude A and phase φ in terms of C and D.

b)Take the position at time t=0 to be Xo and the velocity at time t=0 to be Vo.

Find C and D.
