Formulate solutions that may be more effective

Discussion Post

You have learned so much during this class, and now it is time to take a step back and ruminate a bit on health behavior, health behavior theory, public health practice, and intervention design, all within the context of health disparities and cultural diversity. The fact is, despite much effort and research to reduce or eliminate health disparities, those issues still very much exist. To explore this dilemma, in your initial post, address the following:

1) Assess if these failures are a lack of translation and dissemination of efficacious programs.

2) Determine what is meant by "the gap between research and practice," and how this plays a role.

3) Differentiate if it is more a matter of the types of programs that have been developed (i.e., individual-level versus structural-level), or more a matter of practicality that ideas found successful in research are not easily adopted into the real-world.

4) Formulate solutions that may be more effective in getting research into practice. Base your ideas on what you have read and learned in addition to your personal experiences. Discuss how what you have learned has changed how you think about health disparities and what to do about them.

The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
