The wye joint in the figure splits the pipe flow into three equal parts, Q/3, Q/3 and Q/3, having the same uniform velocity, which exit, as shown, a distance Ro from the axis. Neglect gravity and friction. With the y-axis perpendicular to x-axis shown:

1. Find the expressions for the velocities (Vupper and Vlower) at Q1 and Q3, respectively.

2. Find an expression for the torque T about the x-axis required to keep the system rotating at angular velocity (omega).
