Explains what you plan to research

Problem:

A research proposal explains what you plan to research (i.e. your research topic) and why it's worth researching (i.e. your justification). The purpose of this assignment is to convince your instructor that your research is suitable for the requirements of the assignment. This is the question your research proposal should strive to answer:

Indigenous studies is a complex area of study, consisting of many areas of interest. However, there are common themes present throughout the available literature and media. In history, this is typically called the "narrative." A narrative is the story the scholar tells in their source. There are narratives of self-determination, narratives of victimization, narratives of identity, and so on. In your final essay, select a narrative present throughout all/most of the 8 sources on the essay reading list and explain in detail how the sources contribute to that narrative.

An annotated bibliography includes an annotation of each source you plan to use in a research project. For this assignment, write annotation for each of the eight sources that you will use in your final essay.

Please ensure the following items are included in your assignment:

  • brief summary of the source
  • how source will contribute to final essay
  • significant quote
