From an early age, you were interested in working in the field of human resources. You enjoy helping both people and organizations meet their goals. After working for several years in a for-profit field, you decided you wanted to move to the public sector. You took some college courses to help you prepare, and also made some connections through HR organizations.

You are now ready to make the move and are looking to do  little more research about the field and positions available before you begin applying for specific positions.

Q1. Explain the role and responsibilities of an elected official, personnel professional, and manager/supervisor as it pertains to human resource management.  Give an example of how each contributes to human resource management.

Q2. Research and locate an HR job in the public sector that you would be interested in. Provide a brief description of the job, the company or organization, and why you would want this position.

Q3. Identify two competencies you think would be most important for you to have in this job. Why? Provide at least two examples of how these competencies will help you succeed in the job.
