Resource: Introduction to Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prisons timeline Imagine you are a corrections professional and have been asked to present to a high school class on how the field of corrections has evolved over time.
Create an 8 to 10 slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in which you:
1. Identify two historical developments in corrections and what impact they have on corrections today.
2. Contrast two types of American prison models. Note, for this assignment, consider historical prison models. The Pennsylvania System and the Auburn System, for example, areprobably the most historically significant prison models. A specific prison is not a prison system.
3. Explain the most common types of punishment used in prisons. Note the requirement here is to explain the kinds of punishment an inmate might receive for breaking prison rules. Provide your view on how effective you feel these types of punishments are and why.
Include comprehensive speaker notes. Speaker notes are essentially a script of what you would say to the audience if actually presenting your PowerPoint. If you are not familiar with PowerPoint, there is a place for speaker's notes in the presentation. If you need assistance finding this place, please let me know.
APA format is not required for your case notes or for your slides. However, a Title Page Slide and a References Slide are required. These 2 slides are not applied towards the minimum-slide requirement. So, you must submit 8 to 10 slides + a Title Page Slide + References Slide. You can (and should) include an "Introduction" slide. This slide does count.
