Option 1: Teach a Self-Exam and Reflect
Step 1: Create a pamphlet/presentation on BSE
Create a pamphlet/presentation on breast self-exam. Your pamphlet or presentation should:
1. Explain the health significance of BSE.
2. Describe the exam and provide illustrations or other visual elements that explain how to perform the exam.
3. Provide motivation to perform the exam once a month.
4. Include any appropriate citations to sources/images.
Step 2: Teach the Self-Exam
Next, use your pamphlet or presentation to teach a female that you know (e.g., mother, sister, daughter, friend, student, etc.) how to perform a breast self-exam. You are encouraged to teach the exam in person, but you may also use video conferencing/calls or live streaming web applications. The important thing is for you to present the information in a manner that allows you to interact with the person who is learning the material.
When you are finished teaching the exam, ask this person to describe to you what she learned.
Step 3: Reflect on Your Teaching Experience
Finally, write a one-page reflection describing this experience and sharing the feedback from your BSE learner.
