In this discussion, we will learn how to explain the scientific method to someone in your life that has no background in science. This person could be your friend, spouse, partner, child, niece or nephew, parent, co-worker or anyone that is interested in learning about the scientific method. You can use situations from work (why is the coffee so strong this morning?), a hobby (why doesn't the car start?), home maintenance (why doesn't the light turn on?), cooking or whatever example would be more appropriate.
A. Start by providing information regarding the problem. Did you provide a description of the situation (these are your observations)? What is your question (be specific)?

C. State your Control and Treatment groups. What is the difference between control and treatment groups?
D. Describe your experimental design. How will you conduct your experiment? Could you repeat the experiment and get comparable results? What factors will you keep constant (i.e., control variables)?
E. What is your conclusion? Your conclusion should specifically state whether your hypothesis is supported by the results
