Assignment task: As part of your Recreation Program Leader diploma program, you are completing an internship within the Recreation and Community Outreach department of Robertson College in Winnipeg, MB.  One of the missions of the department is to organize events for the benefit of college students, employees and the larger community.

The department decided to organize a Community Day that would take place on the first Saturday in June and during which students, staff and member of the local community could meet to interact and exchange with each other. The goal of the event is to contribute to strengthening of  a sense of community (for those already part of it) or raise awareness of what the college has to offer for those not yet fully acquainted with it.  Any revenue generated from the activity will be added to the scholarship fund for students demonstrating financial need.

1. Explain the importance and potential benefits of marketing and promotion efforts to the success of your event

2. Explain the link between marketing efforts and objectives and mission of Robertson College.

3. List and provide justification for at least 5 elements of a marketing and promotional strategy that you wish to employ in marketing and promoting Community Day at Robertson College.

4. Identify ways you could evaluate your marketing efforts.

5. Develop a sample promotional material. This could be a message that would be sent out via email, or published on the college website or social media sites or broadcasted on local radio stations, etc. Let your imagination guide you.
