Article Review Presentation and Response Assignment
1) Read the abstract and summary, so that you know what you are reading before you start; then read the article.
2) Briefly (in a paragraph or so) answer the questions:
a. What is the major argument of this article?
b. How do authors develop their argument?
c. Is the argument effective? Why or why not?
3) Notice and focus on a particular section or point in the article that gets your attention. (Hint: you may ask, "What intrigues, disturbs or surprises me about this article?"; Another hint: you may want to select two or three sections or points and then choose the best one for your response)
4) Explain why this example matters to multicultural education. Relate your explanation to readings, discussions and other class material, as well as your other background knowledge and experiences.
5) Evaluate ways you can apply what you gained from the article (whether you think the argument is strong or not) to your teaching.
6) Responses should be 600 to 900 words (2-3pp.) in length, typed, double-spaced and in twelve point font. In addition to your name, course name, instructor name and date, write the APA citation for your article in the spot where a title of a paper usually goes. You may use headings or outline numbers to section off your response if you choose.
