Explain how this strategy addresses the issues in scenario

Problem

Objective:

To create a list of language strategies to increase vocabulary and to evaluate your strategies.

Scenario:

Cameryn is a two-year-old boy in your classroom. He does not speak often, yet uses utterances and pointing as a means of communicating. Cameryn has been evaluated for any physical disabilities that would prohibit him from speaking, but he does not have any. His parents have told you that they haven't been too worried about his lack of speech since he's still young and they can communicate with him. You set a goal for Cameryn to have 10 words in his expressive vocabulary in the next two months. Knowing that receptive language develops first, you also evaluate Cameryn's receptive vocabulary to continue to build this as well.

• Develop a list of five or more strategies for helping Cameryn increase his vocabulary. At least one strategy should focus on increasing Cameryn's expressive vocabulary, and one strategy on how you will evaluate and improve his receptive vocabulary.

Self-Evaluation

• For each strategy on your list:

o Explain how this strategy addresses the issues in the scenario.
o Give evidence from the chapter supporting this strategy (with citations).

• Describe and justify how your strategies would improve teaching and learn in the scenario.
