Prompt 1:
A cognitive psychologist is teaching a course in which he teaches that humans have cognitive abilities that exist at birth-it does not matter what language a person speaks, because language has minimal impact on people's psychology. Critique this psychologist's perspective. In your critique you should explain evidence of three domains that are affected by the language that one speaks.
Prompt 2:
Imagine that you have a new roommate who has a very different cultural background as you. You ask them if you can use their hairdryer. They don't want you to but say, "I guess so", with a very subtle disapproving expression. You say "okay, thanks" and use the hairdryer and are shocked to hear later that your roommate is upset at you for using their hairdryer. Explain what cultural difference(s) discussed in class and in the readings might help explain the conflict.
