A sampling strategy is essential in the application of research findings to larger or different populations. The way a sample is obtained affects selection bias and is of chief importance in determining whether results from a sample can be generalized to a target population.

• Apply research principles to the interpretation of the content of published research studies.
• Identify ethical issues common to research involving human subjects.
• Evaluate published nursing research for credibility and lab significance related to evidence-based practice.
• Recognize the role of research findings in evidence-based practice.
The most common sampling method is the convenience sample; therefore many of the studies that you find for evidence will use this sampling strategy. What are the implications of using a convenience sample on the way you interpret and use research findings?
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of this sampling strategy, comparing it to other sampling designs commonly used in research.

Question #2 : Ethical and Legal Issues
Search for a contemporary example of breaches of the standards for ethical and legal research. Do not duplicate examples.
Research integrity rests on the ethical principles of respect, beneficence, and justice in its treatment of human subjects. The goal of research is always to minimize the risks and maximize the benefits for human subjects.

Last week we discussed potential gaps that impact credible evidence being incorporated into practice. This week our focus turns to ethical considerations when completing nursing research.
According to Schrems (2013), nurses must understand the ethical regulations which include, the different degrees of examining the target groups; second, the benefits of participants; and third, the caring relationship between nurses and research subjects.
Search for a contemporary example of breaches of the standards for ethical and legal research. Do not duplicate examples.

How do we promote ethical research practices that not only impact participants but the family and community?
Historically, there have been various ethical violations published but what about presently? Look forward to examples and discussions about ethical and legal concern when conducting research as well as utilizing the findings for practice.
