Examine stability change affects of early-late experiences

ssignment:

Part 1

Nature and nurture coexist together and can both help and/or hinder development. Nature is biological, nature is environmental. Santrock (2009) believes that our genetics are programmed within us, but our environment can come along and alter development.

Stability-change examines the affects of early and late experiences and how they can change a person. Some argue that there are critical periods in a person's life (especially the first few years of life) and other theorists argue that ones' entire life experiences are more malleable (Santrock, 2009).

Santrock (2009) says that continuity-discontinuity is when development occurs at a steady, gradual pace over time (continuous) or more sporadic and comes in waves (discontinuous).

From my perspective, nature and nurture are both necessary and crucial; you can't have one without the other. We are born with distinct genetics, but we are also a product of our experiences and environment. Stability is necessary because many find comfort in routine, especially children. If a child is used to having a shelter and a warm cozy bed then a hurricane takes all that away, both stability and change has occurred. That child must then find a new sense of stability, and that is difficult. I think as humans we more a product of continuous change rather than discontinuous. We are constantly learning, growing and adapting. These changes may be subtle, but they're happening.

Part 2

I do think that nature and nurture play a critical role in life. The both interact thought out life. We all know that certain things are just inborn with us, no matter of the environment Nature play a role with disorders but nurture could help with the development outcome.

I do believe that stability supersedes change in development. In some cases thinking of myself and watch in my own children with developmental day to day. I was a very quite and shy person. Now my family can't shut me up.

I think development is a continues. As children and adult is we are learning and grow daily. I think of myself back in college . " In exploring development we will examine the life span from the point of conception until life ends/".
