Evaluate the partnering to heal training program

Assignment:

Read through the Partnering to Heal Facilitator's Guide, available on the Partnering to Heal website. Note that it is not necessary to read the entire manual. Rather, read through p. 6 and then read the discussion guide for Janice Upshaw (Prevention Interventionist), because she is the character we will be focusing on. Also read through Appendices A and B, which also have some valuable information for instructors. The remainder of the manual can be scanned quickly.

Next, go to https://health.gov/hcq/training-partnering-to-heal.asp, and scroll down and click on "Start the Training" to play the Partnering to Heal on-line video simulation. Watch the introduction video and then work through the Janice Upshaw (Prevention Interventionist) character. Try different options to see what happens when different choices are made.

Critique the Facilitator's Guide. Be sure to explain your points.

Does the Facilitator's Guide provide sufficient information to enable a trainer to prepare for and deliver the training session? What aspects of the guide are particularly helpful? What should be added to the guide or improved?

Consider the facilitated discussion portion of the training described in the guide (see p. 17-19 pertaining to Janice Upshaw). What aspects of the facilitated discussion will be beneficial for the trainees' learning? What should be added or improved?

Evaluate the instructional methods used in the on-line simulation portion of the Partnering to Heal training program. What aspects of the simulation are likely to positively impact trainees' motivation, learning, and transfer of training? What should be added or improved? Be sure to explain your points.
