Solar energy is used to warm a large collector plate. This energy in turn is transferred as heat to a fluid in a heat engine. The engine rejects energy as heat to the atmosphere. Experiments indicate that about 200 Btu/hr*ft^2 of energy can be collected when the plate is operating at 190 degrees F. Estimate the minimum collector area (ft^2) required for a plant producing 1kW of useful shaft power when the atmospheric temperature is 70 degrees F?
