Topic is on the guiltiness of the teachers accused of Atlanta Public School System cheating trial.

Argue these points, but argue for the teachers being guilty. This is more of an argumentative compare/contrast essay, and I want the stronger argument to be that the teachers and staff involved in the scandal are ultimately guilty:

a) They broke the law and accepted bonuses that were awarded for their test scores.

b) On the other hand, however, it seems like there was a lot of pressure coming from the superintendent to achieve certain scores.

a) Students were robbed of preparedness for the exams and of their education because the teachers decided to change their test scores instead of actually teach them.

b) On the other hand, it sounds like the teachers did not have the resources to properly prepare their students for these exams. However, simple research on the Internet could have uncovered a lot of educational information for their students not supplied by the school system or state.

a) Test scores are important because they ultimately measure students’ understanding of material. They also encourage teachers to up their games and be better teachers so their students do well on their tests. Good teachers teach, poor teachers change their students’ answers. (Or something like that.)

b) A lot of people disagree with exams because it places emphasis on the exams themselves and not the knowledge. But obviously test scores measure their knowledge, so this is not a valid argument. It also measures the competency of teachers. If teachers do a good job teaching their students, their students will ultimately do well on their tests.

(I really like this quote from that sources and would like it to be integrated within my paper: In order to have the privilege of teaching kids you have to be able to show that you can significantly move their academic achievement levels,” she says. “And if you can’t show that, then you need to find another profession.”
