Write a Reflective Journal

Expand on your definition of what it means to be a family and the complex ways in which families influence identity development.
Examine how racism influences the identity development of young children. You will also consider gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation. In addition, you will continue to write in your Reflective Journal on ideas of discomfort.
Explore the complex ways institutional bias influences the identity development of young children. You will also examine methods for supporting resilience. Also focus on cultural dissonance in the classroom and how adults can support all of the children with whom they interact. Reflect on your own bias and how you might shift your level of awareness with respect to preconceptions and/or misconceptions.
