Application Scenario
Your company has spent more than a decade successfully providing commercials in numerous languages to customers around the world. In the past, these commercials were translated from one language to others by human experts in those languages. Unfortunately, the company is finding it more and more difficult to hire individual's who both know multiple languages and are familiar enough with the cultures where those languages are used. A couple of recent costly mistakes where inappropriate language was used in some translations and the advancing ages of our present employees makes it clear that soon we will need to use a solution based on artificial intelligence. We have a few years to produce a complete solution to these problems.
Your team has been assigned to develop an application that forms an early step in this process. Your application will gather thousands of commercials from around the world. The application will organize these advertisements by language and by the type of product being advertised. A future application will use this set of data as a training set for a machine-learning application to support automatic translation among multiple languages.
Examination Questions:
I. Propose an architecture for your team's product using one of the architectural styles presented in a video. On Architectural Design. Justify using that particular style and justify the resulting architecture you developed.
II. Draw a high level use case diagram showing the major use cases (user level functionalities), actors involved, and relationships. Provide a couple of sentence explanation of what each of your use cases does.
III. Write a formal use case description of one of the use cases you identified.
IV. Select one component of your architecture and use one of the divide and conquer methods to do an intermediate design of this component. Explain why this is the appropriate divide and conquer method to use for this instance.
