Do you think that social media has pushed the country apart?

When it comes to social media, freedom of speech has become more and more prevalent. It is easier to say anything someone wants with the protection of being behind a computer screen. This has allowed many people to take advantage of being able to post anything they want whether it is political, lifestyle wise, or random. It can be positive or negative and, regardless, someone will more than likely get offended. This has caused our nation to have a little bit of divide in various aspects.

What effects do false information and fake news have on society?

The public's trust in journalism, organizations, and media organizations as a whole is damaged by fake news. People may develop skepticism and lose trust in trustworthy news sources if they are exposed to inaccurate or misleading material on a regular basis. The purpose of fake news is frequently to influence public opinion or further particular agendas. By consolidating preexisting opinions, fostering echo chambers, and widening gaps between various groups, it can add to the division of society. During elections, referendums, and other political events, misinformation campaigns can sway the public's attitude. False information can be spread by malicious actors in order to sway voter behavior, weaken democratic procedures, and jeopardize the honesty of the voting process. Fake news can also be used as a war tactic to scare other countries in time of war.
