Do human beings possess more moral worth than other species

Problem

Speciesism is a term used by animal rights advocates for the act of discriminating based upon species. An example of this is when human beings think they possess more moral worth than other species, and use non-human animals for their cuisine, clothes, zoos...etc.
The term was invented by Richard Ryder.

After watching this brief video, answer the following questions in detail:

a) Do human beings possess more moral worth than other species? In other words, are we more valuable in the great scheme of things?

b) Richard Ryder, Peter Singer, and other animal rights defenders often compare our treatment of animals to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the holocaust...etc. Do you think this is an appropriate comparison?
