Problem 2: Discuss the differences between job analysis and job evaluation. How do these practices help establish internally consistent job structures?

Job Analysis is a careful evaluation of all aspects of a specific job the objective of the job analysis is to develop the present methods and techniques of doing a job. This is done through exploration, research, and study leading to an understanding of the working conditions, authority, and skills required of a job. A job evaluation is an attempt to assess the applicability of a specific job within an organization. The objective of a job evaluation is to determine a fair wage of a job. The evaluation may help in setting a uniform and rational wage structure in the industry, which will help prevent deficiencies in wage management in the organization (Surbhi S, 2015).

Job analysis may be useful to human resource personnel to establish consistent job structures in writing job descriptions. This may help design the criteria used for training and hiring employees. Job evaluations are useful to prevent disputes among employees by reducing the chance of favoritism and bias in setting pay (Newman, 2020, p. Chapter 4- Chapter 5).

Personally, I have accepted a general job description before and later found that I was required to do more activities than originally led on to. I was a commission-only employee but was required to spend a significant amount of time servicing current clients. This took time from my availability to prospect for new customers and earn commission on new clients.
