Discussion on baracuta ad

ASSIGNMENT:

Carefully examine the attached Baracuta ad. Read the body copy. Internalize the attitude and tone of voice. Note the copywriter's style, choice of words, informality and characteristic sentence length. See how the headline works with the first line of copy? See how the body copy forms a column? Notice the size of the logo and how the ad is balanced.

Pool out this ad so that your execution reads and looks as if it were written by the first writer.

Remember that pool outs vary considerably to the degree they match or do not match the original. Do not merely change a few words, like instead of of "metal hanger" you substitute "K Mart Tube Hanger." Do not begin the headline with the same structure, "The closest I ever..."
Do find another story. Do think of another sentence structure for the headline. Do retain the tone and attitude of the original.

You will be judged on how well your ad retains the "spirit" of the original and yet keeps the campaign "fresh." (Make me believe that the first writer wrote both ads.)

Execution guidelines:

• make your pool out the same size as or slightly larger than original

• if you cannot draw, describe visual

• it's okay to submit rough layout on one sheet and copy on another sheet (similar to "Go to Hell.")
