Problem:
Reading Dr. White's piece, I wondered about the purpose of theoretical writing like hers that hedges itself repeatedly, i.e., "here is a model, but you don't need to use it" / "here is an idea, but I'm not saying everyone will agree." How does this non-authoritative and reflexive/self-conscious way of writing relate to the content of her argument? What might it say about her own positionality?
