Assignment task: What is more important to you and why: protection of your personal reputation (having strong defamation laws) or your freedom of expression and its protection under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms?
Clearly state your thesis at the outset of your reflection. What are you arguing? It should not be a mystery to the reader what you are writing about and your position
- How are you building your argument? How are you persuading your reader as to your position?
- How does each paragraph flow into the next paragraph?
- How are you introducing each of your arguments? How are you supporting your arguments?
- Your reflection should be free of spelling errors and grammatical errors
- Your reflection should smoothly flow from one thought or idea to the next. (TIP: Read it out loud to yourself or better to someone else)
- Your reflection should be cogent. What does this mean? You should express your idea(s) in a clear, logical, and compelling way.
- Use paragraphs. Each new idea should have its own paragraph.
- Avoid run-on sentences. Write directly and concisely.
