Question 2:

Imagine that you are developing a public relations plan for a business you frequently patronize. Identify a problem or opportunity facing that business. Explain in detail how you might apply each of the four basic steps of a public relations plan (see " Conceptualizing the Public Relations Plan" in Chapter 5) when developing a plan for that business to address the problem or opportunity.

One problem facing the Target store in my area is that there are not enough cashiers. There are rows upon rows of check-out lanes, but maybe three cashiers on the floor. If we apply the 4 basic steps to this issue, we would take the following steps; 1) Research others attitudes and opinions towards the problem. 2) Create a strategy/plan to make people aware of the problem. 3) Implement the plan by addressing the company and the public. 4) Assess the successfulness of the plan determining if the goal was reached, if changes are made, etc.

Chapter 5, "Implementing Public Relations Programs," discusses a number of public relations duties. Choose the most challenging of these duties and explain why it is more difficult than the others.

I think that government relations and public affairs is one of the most challenging of these duties, as I would think they would be busy and hard to get a hold of, making it hard to coordinate activities that work with everyone's schedule.

Ethics played a major role in the public relations campaign regarding Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. That scandal shook the nation, and the fact that the President did something unethical was the center of the discussion. I'd say that was pretty negative for him.
