You are writing a policy concerning conditions of employment for employees of your security department. Your state allows 'at will' employment and you could use this method in your policy. You have also recently read about 'just cause' requirements regarding terminations. Your department has no employment contract in force with its employees. You also have no established disciplinary system. In preparation for writing your policy answer the below questions based on the above information:
1. As a manager would you favor an 'at will' employment system or one that follows the principles of 'just cause' regarding terminations and why?
2. As an employee which of the two approaches would you favor and why?
3. As a manager would you be in favor of having a progressive disciplinary system? Why or why not?
4. As an employee would you be in favor of having a progressive disciplinary system? Why or why not?
