Determine in what area the employee has not been performing to focus your discussion with the employee (i.e., excessive tardiness? Not completing tasks? Inappropriate behaviors around patients/other employees?)

2. How would you begin a conversation with the non-performing employee?

3. What would you do if the employee:

· Became defensive?

· Started to cry?

· Became very angry?

And finally,

4. Explain why documentation is important to the process of dealing with the non-performing employee.
