Discuss non-certification and access to educational setting

Discussion Post: Advanced Degree Program Acknowledgement

As you begin your Advanced Graduate journey here at Walden University, there is some information the university and its faculty would like you to know and understand in order for you to be successful. This information includes policies in the Walden Student Handbook, understanding that this program does not lead to licensure, and the need to have access to an educational setting.

For this Discussion, you will acknowledge that you read and understand this essential information.

To prepare

Read the following information:

1) Walden Student Handbook Acknowledgement

a) I hereby acknowledge receipt of the Walden University Student Handbook for the program in which I am enrolled. I have read and understand the contents of the Student Handbook in its entirety. Additionally, I understand the requirements for the program set forth in the Student Handbook. As a student in the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, I agree to abide by any policies or procedures found in the Student Handbook.

b) I understand that the policies in the Student Handbook may undergo revision and, should that occur, new policies or procedures for students may be implemented immediately.

c) I agree to abide by the policies and procedures contained herein, including any new policies and procedures that may occur prior to my graduation from the program.

2) Non-Certification Acknowledgement

a) I understand that the College of Education Program that I am enrolled in is not a certification, initial licensure, or endorsement program. I will earn a certificate or degree; however, the program does not qualify for a certification, initial licensure, or endorsement in any state. This program may meet upgrade, renewal, and/or CEU requirements; however, I understand that I am responsible for checking with my school district or state officials.

3) Access to an Educational Setting Acknowledgement

a) Your advanced graduate program is built on a foundation of professional standards and outcomes that represent best practices as well as Walden University's philosophical beliefs. The standards and outcomes supporting our program include the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and Walden's Education Preparation Provider Outcomes that are aligned with the Conceptual Framework, Walden's Professional Dispositions, Diversity Proficiencies, and Technology Proficiencies. This strong alignment ensures that candidates have the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions to improve P-12 student learning. To complete your coursework, you will need to have access to an educational setting. If you are not currently teaching, you may complete these assessments by working with students from another teacher's classroom or working with children you know.
